In a world of disappearing print media, News From Indian Country (NFIC) represents the oldest nationally distributed newspaper not controlled by a tribal government. The courage and persistence of the newspaper’s coverage of controversial topics has led to federal investigations, and NFIC has been honored with prestigious awards from the Native American Journalists Association, and the Payne Award for Ethics in Journalism from the University of Oregon.

NFIC serves thousands across Indian Country, many who are adversely affected by the digital divide, including elders. The newspaper is their avenue to obtain important news and community awareness.
